       One of my most favorite aspects of Tenchi Muyo is Ryoko's love for Tenchi. Basically, Ryoko would do anything for Tenchi, even die for him. In the OAV series, Ryoko had known Tenchi ever since he was a baby. She was locked up in a cave, but somehow she could project her astral body outside the cave so she could see Tenchi. And so Ryoko watched Tenchi grow up.

       Also in the OAV series, in the episode, "We Need Tenchi", Ryoko was upset because she thought Tenchi was killed by Kagato. Ryoko went to face Kagato. Ayeka did help fight Kagato, but she wasn't much help. Ryoko didn't succeed in defeating Kagato, but the point is that she risked her life by going to face one of the most powerful villains in the universe just to get revenge for Tenchi. But of course Tenchi wasn't really dead and he went to face Kagato and defeated him with the power of the Light Hawk Wings.

       In the Tenchi Universe series, in the episode, "No Need for Ryoko", Tenchi was going off to rescue Ayeka from Kagato. Ryoko didn't want Tenchi to go and she begged him not to go. She told Tenchi to forget about Ayeka and that he could run away with her. Tenchi declined her offer and so Ryoko offered to take Tenchi to Kagato even though she was critically injured from the previous episode. At the end of the episode, it seemed as though Ryoko died, but we see that she survived when we see her in the last episode.

       Ok, now the question is, does Tenchi love Ryoko? Well, it's obvious that he does care for her, but I'm not sure that he actually loves her. There are a few instances in which he showed some interest in Ryoko.

       In the first episode of the OAV series, "Ryoko Resurrected", Tenchi thought Ryoko died from the explosion. Now he didn't know her and so he couldn't really feel sad so he said something like, "She was kinda cute".

       In the Tenchi Universe series, in the episode, "Time and Space Adventures, Part 3", we see Ryoko's vision of a perfect world. She and Tenchi are gangsters going around robbing banks. Later, Ryoko had to leave this world to return home. She had to denounce this world. Ryoko didn't want to and so she went off by herself to think. She finally decided to go back home. Tenchi asked if it was alright. As they were about to leave, Ryoko held Tenchi's hand and she smiled at him. Usually, Tenchi wouldn't respond to this, but this time, he did. He held Ryoko's hand back and smiled at her also.

       In the last episode of the Tenchi Universe series, "No Need for a Conclusion", Tenchi was walking to school. He was thinking about about the times he had with the girls living with him. He was thinking about all the wonderful memories he had. But those days were over, Tenchi thought. All of a sudden, he thought he heard Ryoko call him. Tenchi turned around and saw her, but then she disappeared. He turned around again and saw Ryoko in front of him. She jumped off the stone she was standing and into Tenchi's arms, with her arms around his neck. Tenchi really seemed happy to see Ryoko and he hugged her back. Normally, this is something Tenchi wouldn't do. They stood there for awhile just enjoying each other's company and then Ryoko whispering in his ear some sweet words. Then they walked back to Tenchi's house, hand in hand.
